Rarely do businesses and investors want the federal government to regulate burgeoning markets – especially when there’s money to be made – but that’s exactly what those backing a new type of tuition assistance are hoping will happen.

Income share agreements, in which a company or organization pays for a student’s tuition in exchange for a percentage future earnings, are the new frontier of higher education financing, and backers are looking for guidance from the government as the market begins taking off.
