RESTON, VIRGINIA (May 9, 2016) – Vemo Education, an education technology company working with U.S colleges and universities to develop and service value-oriented, income-based student financing programs, announces the hiring of Bliksem Tobey as Vice President of Technology. Tobey officially begins his role today and will lead the continued development and deployment of Vemo’s technology infrastructure.
Tobey joins Vemo after almost 17 years with McKinsey & Company, where he used his expertise in digital to serve the world’s largest organizations across a variety of industries and functions. Most recently, he played a key role in creating McKinsey Digital Labs, a group that combines data science, human-centered design, and the latest rapid-development techniques to help clients deliver breakthrough products, experiences, and businesses. Fueled by successful client impact, Tobey helped scale the venture to an 800-person global organization in less than 5 years.
“I am very excited for Bliksem to join the Vemo team,” said Renée Mang, Vemo’s VP of Originations and Servicing. “He brings a breadth of knowledge that will certainly help advance the many initiatives underway at Vemo Education. As a result, Vemo will continue to deliver enhanced college offerings and improved student outcomes.”
Tobey will be responsible for overseeing Vemo’s technology platform including building out its organizational capacity and operational infrastructure, which will be used across all of Vemo’s departments including sales, originations and servicing, finance, marketing and communications, and analytics. Managing a growing technical team, Tobey will ensure the development of long term technology solutions that will directly address the needs of Vemo’s higher education client base.
A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Tobey holds a B.S. in Information Systems and a M.S. in Public Policy and Management from the institution.
